The lists of content warnings below are likely not comprehensive but are provided to the best of my ability. Please note that as someone with CPTSD, myself, from repeated trauma that I believe it impossible to include a true “trigger warning” list because triggers often tend to be wildly specific to individual traumas (the scent of a particular aftershave, a specific song, etc.). As such, I choose to use the term “content warning.”
I will be having two lists: one broad and one specific. If you don’t want spoilers, stick to the broad lists. If you don’t mind spoilers, please use the specific list for more detailed information. If you discover something you believe I should add, please send me an email at: ehprybylski@thirteencentsshort.com.
As a rule, I will never, ever have the following happening on-page in my books though events may be referenced as having happened or may be implied if the story requires it.
If there is a content warning you would like to ask about or one you feel I have missed in this list, please contact me, and I will gladly hear you out. While I will be writing about difficult subjects on occasion, I don’t intend to do so in a method for shock value and prefer my readers to feel like they can trust me with their mental health to the best of my ability.
That said, I write thrillers. That means there will be tension, violence, and other such content as implied by the genre. These are not intended to be cozy, low-stakes books.
